Rainforest Alliance Costa Rica Tarrazu Coffee
The full name of this exquisite Costa Rica Coffee is Costa Rica Estate Dota Finca Tona Tarrazu Miel. Which means that this coffee was grown at the highest altitude possible in the Tarrazu region of Costa Rica on the Tona coffee farm (finca) just outside of the town of Santa Maria de Dota where the micro-mill is located. This is important to note because this particular batch of beans comes soley from the Finca Tona where it is hand picked and milled without being mixed with lesser or inferior coffee beans grown elsewhere.

West over the Tarrazu Valley
Another important distinction of this coffee is in the way it is processed using the “miel” technique where the beans are patio dried on their parchment layer. Miel is the spanish word for honey and indeed this process imparts a subtle honey-like flavor to the coffee beans. The result is a coffee with a good body and acidity and as with most Costa Rica coffee, a beautiful balance making it a great “all day drinking” coffee.

Tarrazu is a premium Costa Rica Coffee to begin with but with the guidance of the Rainforest Alliance the growers here have also managed to combine superb taste with Ecological awareness and balance to the enviroment in which the coffee was grown.
